With God, like God, and for God
Iâm ashamed to admit I used to trust Jesus for the forgiveness of my sins while trusting the world for advice on my goals. And while, by Godâs grace, I was crushing some of my goals, other goals were crushing me. I used to feel:
So I turned to the four gospel biographies to understand how Jesus pursued his goals.
There, I uncovered seven biblical principles for achieving my goals with Christlike confidence, consistency, and character. And as I sought to follow Jesusâs example in a modern context, I developed dozens of practices to help me pursue my goals with God, like God, and for God.
I wrote Redeeming Your Goals to help you do the same.
"Raynor on goals is like Brady on Super Bowls. One of my most goal-oriented friends finally opened the treasure chest heâs been personally using for years. Iâm thrilled he did, and you will be, too, before you even finish reading the first page."
This book is not only rich theologically. It is also...
Discover a menu of 58 optional practices you can apply immediately to achieve your goals in a godly way.
This is an all-you-can-eat buffetânot a prix fixe menu that prescribes what you have to eat and in what order.
Iâm not wasting your time with fluff or long-winded prose. I set out to over-deliver value on every page.
"If youâve wondered if your goals are aligned with Godâs will, this book is for you. Jordan Raynor shows you the spiritual discipline of putting your plans before the Lord, while also giving you the confidence to choose a direction for his glory."
I pray this book helps you redeem your goals and pursue them like your Redeemer: with God, like God, and for God.

"An insanely practical guide for achieving impossible goals without losing your soul. Most books are filled with fluff; this one is made of leadâpure, heavy, life-changing wisdom on nearly every page."
Throughout the book, we'll treat your journey to your goals as an epic road trip.
In chapter 1, Iâll challenge you to leave the comfort of your metaphorical home, get in your car, and choose redemptive questsâgoals pursued with God, like God, and for God.
The scriptures in chapter 2 will baptize your imagination about how far you can go on your quest and inspire you to set epic Long-Term Goals youâre confident are aligned with Godâs will. In the process, weâll examine a surprising paradox that the bigger your goals, the easier and more spiritually fruitful they are likely to be.
Chapter 3 will empower you to order your steps to your Long-Term Goals by helping you choose the best, most Christlike route to your destination and then break your road trip into small stretches of driving you can knock out consistently.
In chapter 4, we will lighten your load for your quest by popping the trunk of your car and tossing out the nonessential rocks on your to-do list and calendar that are weighing you down and slowing your progress.
Then, in chapter 5, Iâll show you how to trust God and get going in your quest. Because Scripture doesnât call us to put our cars on cruise control and let âJesus take the wheel.â God determines the results of our goals, but our job is to drive: to show up faithfully each day and hone the habits God is likely to use to produce fruit.
In chapter 6, Iâll help you maneuver the messy middleâthe inevitable point in any quest when momentum slows, results disappoint, and resistance increases. Looking to Jesusâs example, youâll learn how to confidently discern if youâve reached a cul-de-sac and need to quit your goal, a detour and need to pivot your strategy, or a pothole and simply need to persevere.
Finally, in chapter 7, weâll see how the worldâs way of measuring success suffocates you with striving, crushes you with comparison, and slays you with self-doubt. Weâll replace that toxic approach with Jesusâs life-giving model for measuring progress until you complete your redemptive quest.

Early readers have loved this bookâand agree you will too!
"This is the very first time I have ever gotten through a book about goals, finished the book, have a long-term goal, strategies and next steps. I'm already telling people about it and will be handing them out like candy. THANK YOU!" ââ Mattie C.
"Spot on! Jordan fabulously yet succinctly lays out the need for and the steps for creating and measuring Christ-centered goals. Itâs part workbook, part credo and all Godly wisdom. Itâs theologically sound and yet itâs brief and lighthearted, which really helps make the ideas, principles and practices sticky. A great read, but an even greater handbook as you redeem your life goals." ââ Ryan J.
"An excellent practical guide for how to set and succeed at your goals, in a Biblical way. A powerful blend of the Why along with the How." ââ Brian T.
"For fans of Redeeming Your Time, Redeeming Your Goals is like being handed an ice cold sweet tea on a hot summer day. The practical steps that he outlines (in typical Jordan Raynor bullet-list fashion) marry strong theology with pragmatic principles to take you through the visualization, organization, execution, pivot, perseverance, and finally the spiritual success we enjoy by redeeming our goals in the model of Jesus. The book has so many takeaways, that even if you implement just a few of the practices (thereâs 58 in all), it will have tremendous value." ââ John T.
"When I read Redeeming Your Time, I thought I had finally found the best book on productivity from a biblical perspective ever written. I reread it every year. But Redeeming Your Goals quite possibly tops it! RYG answered all the questions I still had after RYT, and more!" ââ Jana C.
"This is a great book for those of us who struggle with understanding our goals. What should we pursue? How should we pursue it? How do we stay on top of it without getting more stressed out? All of those questions and more are answered. I'll definitely need to read this again, and again, and again, as I navigate life. It's THAT helpful." ââ Jillian J.
"The book felt like engaging in a conversation with someone who genuinely wanted to help me succeed. I will be returning to this book again and again as I work through my goals. Highly recommend." ââ Alexa T.
"Redeeming Your Goals is a practical guide to setting and achieving business and personal goals while keeping what matters mostâGodâat the forefront. Written in Raynorâs candid, approachable voice with a dash of humor, it provides not only countless practical tips, but also many deep ideas to mull over and implement as well." ââ Misty N.
"Redeeming Your Goals is the first book Iâve read on goal-setting that doesnât pull me deeper into self-help, but pulls me deeper into Christ. If youâre tired of goal-setting books that leave you feeling more pressure than purpose, this is the one to read. Jordan doesnât point you to better systems; he points you to a better Savior. And in the process, he provides a way to pursue meaningful goals without losing your soul." ââ Joe K.
âAn incredibly practical and gospel-centered guide to pursuing goals with Christlike character. The content was so helpful that I kept re-reading. A deeply encouraging and clarifying book for anyone wanting to pursue goals with God, not just for him.â ââ Jesleen L.
"Redeeming Your Goals offers insight, clarity and God-centered practical advice about goals in a fresh, thought-provoking and easy-to-read format. It was refreshing to know that I'm not the only one that sometimes gets bogged down trying to discern "God's will" for meâthat silence from the Almighty is not a bad thing. Just like Redeeming Your Time, this book is one that you will want to highlight and go back to time after time because it is so chock full of practical and enlightening life hacks." ââ Kim N.

Not at all! If you havenât read Redeeming Your Time, itâs honestly better for you to start here. But if youâre one of the 50,000+ readers who have read that book, youâll notice that Iâm applying the same gospel-centric, practical playbook you loved to the topic of goals.
This book is primarily for followers of Jesus who believe that the primary aim of life isnât success but serviceâand more specifically, service to God and others.
That said, I know plenty of people who gave the first book in this series, Redeeming Your Time, to tons of non-Christians. If you are not a follower of Jesus, I promise you will get a ton of value from this book. You are not a âsalvation projectâ to me. You are an image bearer of God whom I pray I can serve well with this book.
Nope! Iâm an entrepreneur with a lot of influence over my goals. You might not be. But rest assured, this book will help you achieve goals handed to you by a boss as well as the personal and professional goals your employer isnât defining for you.
I know because the content in this book has already helped many friends of mine who are not entrepreneurs but work in large companies like Chick-fil-A and Meta, in nonprofits like the Red Cross, in small businesses, or as stay-at-home parents with aspirations that extend beyond their homes.
